Leadership Makes the Difference!
Leadership and its close cousin, management, are about growing strong communities: families, churches, businesses, institutions and nations.
Good leadership/management radiates health and well-being. Productivity goes up, morale is improved and internal conflict reduced.
Poor leadership/management radiates dis-ease. Work suffers, internal conflict goes up and resources are spent on internal problems rather than the important tasks at hand to pursue the organizational mission.
Management and Faith
have a lot in common!
Management is essentially a spiritual enterprise; it is about where "two or more are gathered" for a reason, a cause and a mission. How to lead and how to manage ought to be high priorities for anyone who is responsible for the work of others. Many find the management of people to be the most difficult task there is, whether it be the management of a church, business, nation, an institution, a family...or even yourself!
On the one hand, managers fear that if they do not create a tyranny of rule, employees will not give their best. So, they intimidate workers to create results, commanding work performance. On the other hand, some managers want to be liked and admired among their workers and find it challenging to address directly poor work habits and performance. Neither attitude produces the best result.
Answers that Work
Is it possible to manage people in a direct way that secures high performance AND values the employee as a child of God? Yes!
The model Cladis teaches creates an organizational culture that builds strong organizations over time and retains high morale from employees. The cost savings are huge and such churches, nonprofits and companies add value to the communities in which they exist. Team members (employees) actually go home and model the healthy dynamics of work at home and with their friends.

Jesus built the strongest, sturdiest organization the world has ever seen. He did it by inspiring his followers with an impassioned Vision, a clear Mission, a collaborative gift-based approach working in teams, and wrapped it all up in concern and care for one another. The Jesus model actually inspires fellow workers to build each other up to be successful!
George Cladis distills the essentials of Christian theology and Scripture and relates them to organizational leadership and management in his book "Leading the Team-Based Church" published by Jossey-Bass/J. Wiley (San Francisco).
