It's About Teams

Growing, expansive churches are no longer led by a lone ranger pastor calling all the shots. Team-based ministry (collaborative, collegiate) is the most effective model. Team-based ministry can literally and figuratively save the lives of overwhelmed, burned out pastors and church leaders. Best of all, Team-based ministry is well grounded in the Bible and Christian theology and builds strong congregations.

I work out of two models to teach team ministry and coach churches to successful collaborative ministry. The first is based on my first book, Leading the Team-Based Church (1999, Josey-Bass) where I outline what healthy church teams look like on the basis of Trinitarian belief. My second book, Leading the EcoTeam Church (2012) draws upon highly effective team models based on natural theology. Both books are filled with practical examples of church teams rooted in faith.
